_HISTORY: http://trinityblood.wikia.com/wiki/Mary_Spencer

_ABILITIES:

Military Training: Mary attended the Albion Military Academy and graduated as an officer. Skilled in tactics, combat, and weaponry, she is also trained in piloting and combat in mobile armor suits. Mary ascended to the rank of Colonel (O-5) in the Albion Royal Marines.

Leadership: Mary inspired an almost devout loyalty in the men of the 44th that she commanded during the civil war two years prior to her canonpoint. The men of the 44th sacrificed themselves, shielding her, so she could survive the massacre. Thanks to lost technology, the dead of the 44th continued to exist as the Phantom Legion with Mary as their leader – her personal army – as she maneuvered herself to take the throne.

Self-Control/Etiquette: Mary has learned to outwardly mask her inner thoughts and swallow her pride in the face of those more influential than herself, able to humble herself into being 'just a soldier' as needed, knowing the right things to say and swallow her pride while in public.

Illegitimacy: Mary is the bastard child of the Crown Prince of Albion. Though she is a blood relation to the Queen of Albion, her illegitimacy made her unsuited to be an heir to the throne. Publicly known, her status made her an easy scapegoat for the leaders of Albion, making her expendable and seen as unfit. Even the Queen treated her as just a soldier instead of her blood, interpreted by Mary as veiled contempt. Because of her being used as a scapegoat in the Percy Rebellion, Mary became known to the public as 'Bloody Mary' for the incorrect belief that she lured the rebels in to the city for negotiations only to slaughter them all, when herself and her unarmed men were sacrificed to wipe out the rebellion and she managed to survive.

Compassion: Mary displays a tremendous amount of compassion toward her men and half-sister, though she is more than willing to use an iron hand when them if necessary. Even her men of the Phantom Legion are aware that Mary is kind-hearted underneath her envy and anger.

Prejudice: Like many Terrans, Mary dislikes and distrusts vampires, despite having had dealings with the Ghetto and knowing that the technology Albion has – best among the Terran lands – comes from the vampires of the Ghetto given in exchange for the right to live under Londinium. She disregards them as a people and had no issues ordering the extermination of the vampires for her own personal gain. It is unclear if she would make the same choice if it had been Terrans that she'd had to exterminate as dedicated to Albion as she was.

_PERSONALITY:

Mary Spencer is a kind-hearted woman of poise and dedication that has become buried underneath great emotions of envy and anger brought upon by the circumstances of her birth and the slaughterhouse that was politics. The illegitimate first child of the Crown Prince of Albion, Mary was labeled from the start as being unworthy and after her mother's suicide when the child was only eight years old, the only direct family Mary had was her grandmother, Queen Bridget, for whom she sought the approval of and only ever received contempt.

Despite inheriting her mother's lesser noble title of Viscountess of Carlilse, Mary's quest to gain the approval of her grandmother drove her to enroll in the Albion Military Academy at the age of fifteen along with her first cousin. Doing very well in the Academy, Mary developed a love for and dedication to Albion that carried through her life and graduated as an officer. She believed if she demonstrated great military service to Albion, eventually she would gain recognition from her grandmother. Over the years, Mary rose to the rank of Colonel in the Royal Marines and took part in many campaigns. During that time, she only ever saw her grandmother once a year when her service was recognized, but Mary, herself, was never recognized as a granddaughter by Bridget. It was always just the soldier and the queen, not an ounce of affection or a word of kindness from the queen. It didn't matter how much Mary did, how excellent her service record was, the queen gave her nothing more than what was expected and necessary for any other soldier of Albion. Mary believed she was despised by the queen for being illegitimate, a constant reminder of the late Crown Prince, and as the years went by she became to despise the queen back even so much as coming to hate how much she and the queen looked alike. It was as if looking into the mirror alone was enough to remind Mary that she was unworthy of the queen's attention, of recognition.

Throughout Mary's service, her dedication and loyalty was not just to Albion, but to the men under her command. Without a real family to support her, in a way, her men became a surrogate family to her, particularly the men of the 44th division. During the Percy Rebellion in Albion, two years prior to canon point, Mary and her men were sacrificed by the House of Dukes in a ploy to lure the rebel leaders in underneath the guise of negotiations. The 44th was unarmed in enemy territory to conduct these negotiations, but instead of that occurring, the House ordered a massacre of the rebels, and subsequently the 44th as well. As the area was bombed, Mary ended up the only survivor because her men sacrificed themselves to shield her and get her to safety. Upon returning to Londinium, the incident of the Percy Rebellion became known to the public, but as the Dukes weren't about to release that they had ordered the strike, they allowed Mary to be a scapegoat for what happened. She became known as 'Bloody Mary' by the people for they believed she purposefully lured the rebels in and then slaughtered them all. From that moment on, other parts of her service were misunderstood and used to validate the unfortunate nickname she'd been given, such as the people believing she slaughtered women and children to make pirates surrender. And this was when the seeds of anger and vengeance were sown in Mary.

She cared so much for her men that sacrificed themselves for her that she found a way to revive them using the lost technologies created by the vampires (canon does not give an explanation as to how), and the dead 44th continued to serve her as her own private hidden army that called themselves the Phantom Legion. With the queen's failing health and the lack of a true heir to the throne, Mary began her plan to take the throne upon the queen's death. There was no one more dedicated to Albion than her and she was of royal blood, if illegitimate, but she lacked support so she had to manipulate things so she would be seen as the best option. And then once she was queen, she could get her vengeance upon all those that had wronged her.

Mary was ruthless in her path to the throne. Having known that the true heir of the throne had actually been secreted away just before the Crown Princess was murdered during the White Rebellion, Mary ordered one of the Phantom Legion to kill every last remaining maid of Edward White that had knowledge of how the baby girl was switched with a stillbirth and taken away, still living out there somewhere. If those maids were all killed, then there wouldn't be anyone in Londinium that would know that the true heir was out there somewhere. She had her men stage a fake assassination attempt on the Pope and the Lady Saint to frame the King of Germanicus (who was a distant relative to Bridget and thus a potential heir to the throne). When she found out that her men had made a true assassination attempt, she reprimanded them firmly for disobeying orders, even though they told her they wouldn't let anyone stand in the way of Mary's ascension.

The greatest example of Mary's ruthlessness and the lengths she would go to acquire the throne was when she and a representative of the Vatican discussed the state of succession. As it was in the Church's best interest to have someone they could work with on the throne, they proposed to back Mary by providing false documentation of a secret marriage between Mary's mother and the Crown Prince before his real marriage, thus legitimatizing Mary. Of course, that would come with its opponents as Mary has been known publicly since her birth to be illegitimate, the Church would be willing to support a ruler that had been chosen by God. And anyone that could take care of the devil's nest of vampires hidden for centuries underneath Londinium, called the Ghetto, then who would really care if the queen was legitimate or not considering how the vampires were the enemy of mankind. So, Mary agreed to exterminate over a hundred innocent vampires that had been living peacefully underneath the city by the grace of the queen in exchange for their technology, and barely even batted an eye over it.

Yet Mary's kindness and dedication to her men prevented her from following through with the plan to flood the Ghetto and exterminate all of the vampires when things went wrong. When Mary realized that the only way for the plan to proceed would be to sacrifice the men that would be setting the flood mechanism off, she couldn't sacrifice them. It would have been just like what happened to the 44th during the Percy Rebellion and she cared too much for the men under her command to do so. She was reprimanded by the House for not sacrificing the men, accused of being naive by not realizing that sacrifices needed to be made, and they finally admitted to her that the 44th had been sacrificed. Instead of losing her temper on the arrogant men that had caused her so much pain, both directly and indirectly through public opinion, she accepted responsibility for the failed mission and downplayed herself as just a soldier so they wouldn't suspect that she was moving forward with her decision to take the throne by force once the queen died. It was during this vipers' nest meeting of politics regarding what to do about the Ghetto now that its presence had become known and what to do regarding the lack of an heir, Mary's cousin, the Duchess of Erin (Jane Judith Jocelyn), told Mary that she had her support to be queen, and even pointed out that there was no one more dedicated to Albion. And though the true heir had been found by then, Mary was best suited for the throne and Jane supported her. This would lead Mary to try to detain Jane safely away from things so as not to harm her instead of undermine her, even though she also had a claim on the throne.

Other examples of the kindness Mary has underneath the anger and envy would be when a masked terrorist took Esther hostage. Mary tried to negotiate with the terrorist, but she was called out as Bloody Mary and her supposed negotiation tactics, that her word that the terrorist wouldn't be harmed couldn't be believed. Thinking that the terrorist might be one of the former rebels, she offered to let herself be taken, to allow the terrorist to get vengeance on her if Esther was released. Even though Mary wasn't truly responsible for that massacre during the Percy Rebellion, she didn't argue the accusations and was willing to give her own self up to save someone she believed was an innocent bystander.

The most important relationship Mary has is to her half-sister, Esther Blanchett – the true heir to the throne. Despite Esther being in the way of her ascent to the throne (something her men attempted to eliminate), Mary loves Esther very much. With the queen gone, Esther was the only family she would have and they'd been friendly before it was discovered that Esther was the child that had been secreted away. When Esther lost a close friend, Mary comforted her. In fact, Mary was able to tell that Esther just needed to cry and let all the pent up emotion that the girl had been holding back, and slapped her to wake her up from the crippling emotional state she'd been. She got Esther to cry, telling her that she needed to cry and get it all out then, because she had to pick herself back up and continue on. She held Esther as she cried and promised to protect her, that she wasn't going to let the vultures in the Albion politics harm her. She even took Esther to go see their grandmother, leaving her with the dying woman, so she would be out of the way while she finally execute her coup d'tat.

_SMUT SAMPLE:

It had been a long time since Mary indulged in meaningless sex. Two years, give or take a bit, she would say, to back before the Percy Rebellion. That didn't mean she'd been celibate in that time, just that she really only let herself get pulled into it by one particular person that she'd had a thing with on and off with over the last ten years. It made her wonder, as she sat on the bed taking her hair down, if she remembered how this went. Two years was a long time...

She was drawn from her thoughts by the approach of her partner in this resurrection of her sex life as he brought over a bottle of champagne and a couple glasses. He had already stripped himself of his clothing, body muscular and solid, and his cock was already hard. A bit of a smirk touched her lips, knowing those five minutes of heavy petting against the hotel door before he managed to get the door open had a satisfying affect on him. What she wasn't prepared for was the affect that seeing her with her hair down, the reddish-orange strands far longer than it seemed like she would have up in that bun, would have on him.

The alcohol was forgotten, discarded on the bedside table, and his hand was in her hair with a strong grip that he half pulled her up to kiss her hard and deep. The sudden intensity and roughness was far more welcome than she expected it to be as heat spread across her body and an ache she hadn't forgotten concentrated between her legs. Maybe this would be easier than she'd thought it would be. The stiffness of his cock pressed against her stomach, prompting her to take it in hand as they continued to kiss.

Well, well... If he was even half as skilled with what she had in hand as he was with his tongue, then that growing heat between her legs wasn't going to lead to her ending up wet and unsatisfied.
